Yes, Honey is a widely used home-remedy for snoring. It is used as an ingredient to most of the anti-snoring food recipes. In this article, I’ll share how honey works for snoring and some of the anti-snoring food recipes that include honey.
How Honey Prevents Snoring?
Honey is God’s gift for mankind. It can literally prevent and cure hundreds of diseases. Honey is rich in anti-microbial as well as anti-inflammatory properties. It also works as a lubricant. These properties work great against snoring.
One of the common causes of snoring is swelling in the throat. The anti-inflammatory property of honey helps to reduce this swelling. It also helps a great extent to prevent ulcers as well as sores of lips.
The lubricant property of honey prevents vibrations of tissue which causes the sound of snoring.
Even singers have honey daily to keep their vocal cord relaxed and fine.
It is very easy to include honey in your daily diet. You can add it with hot water, tea or other drinks. Even it is okay to have a teaspoon full of honey just before hitting the bed. It will work wonder against snoring.
Recipes That Prevent Snoring

1. Olive Oil With Honey
Olive oil is another great natural remedy to stop snoring. It contains a high amount of anti-inflammatory properties. This property is useful for keeping the throat tissue as well as the airways relaxed and calm, which in turn prevents inflammation or swelling of the throat tissue or airways.
As a result, Olive oil works amazingly against snoring. Here’s what you can do:
Take a tablespoon of olive oil. Mix a few drops of honey with it. Now take that mixture before going to the bed every night. Make it a habit. Soon you’ll find your sleep is getting better and the snoring is reducing.

2. Ginger Tea With Honey
Ginger is useful to prevent snoring in many ways. Firstly, it contains anti-bacterial as well as anti-inflammatory properties which are fundamental against snoring. The unique thing about ginger is, it increases the production rate of saliva, which works as a lubricant for the throat as well as the nasal airways. Thus, air can pass through the airways freely without facing any obstruction.
For preparing ginger tea with honey, you’ll need the followings:
- Ginger (Obviously). Take one-inch long root of ginger. Make sure it is fresh. Peel the ginger thoroughly and slice it thinly.
- Honey (about 2 tablespoons or how much sweetness you prefer)
First, take a pot and boil water. When the water is boiling, add the ginger. Make the ginger simmer in the boiling water for about 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes, turn the heat off. Conceal the pot properly and let 5 minutes pass.
Now it’s time to remove the ginger from the tea and add honey to it. Do not forget to stir thoroughly after you add the honey.
Drinking this tea every night before bed will bring significant result against snoring.

Though honey is an excellent natural remedy to stop snoring, the fact is that it takes a long time to bring any significant result. Snoring is an embarrassing problem for all of us. It is natural most of us want to get rid of it as quickly as we can.
