Is Tea An Effective Remedy For Snoring?

Yes, it is. But not all types of teas are effective against snoring. The effectiveness of tea generally depends on what leaves are used to make the tea. Teas made from Ginger, Green Leaves, Passion Fruit, Nettle Leaf, Mint Peppermint oil, Goldenseal, Chamomile, etc are highly effective against snoring. These types of teas contain anti-inflammatory as well as lubricant properties that help a lot to prevent snoring. So, yes, some specific types of teas are really suitable for preventing snoring.

Here I am sharing some tea recipes that are great against snoring. These teas are very easy to make, need very few ingredients but incredibly good for the health.

Here are the tea recipes:

1. Green Tea

Green tea has countless beneficial properties for health. A recent study has shown that green tea possesses properties that are highly beneficial for a person suffering from sleep apnea. Apart from snoring, green tea will also help to burn unnecessary fat from your body, resulting in a much healthier ‘You’!

Preparation:

  1. First, boil a cup of water. Once it is boiling, throw in a green tea bag, let it infuse for about 7 minutes. For sweetness, you can add honey.
  2. Drink the tea just before hitting the bed. It will not only reduce your snoring, but green tea also helps to increase the quality of sleep.

2. Ginger Tea

Ginger has thousands of health benefits. It is rich in anti-inflammatory as well as anti-bacterial properties. Also, ginger helps to increase the production rate of saliva inside our mouth. The increased saliva helps to keep the airways and nasal pathways moist and lubricated, which helps to prevent snoring.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Fresh Ginger root, about 1 inch long. Peel and slice it thinly.
  • Honey
  • Boiling Water

Preparation:

  1. First, take a cup of water in a pot and boil it. Once the water starts to boil, throw in the ginger. Let the ginger simmer in the boiling water for about 5 minutes.
  2. After simmering for 5 minutes, turn OFF the heat and cover the pot for another 5 minutes.
  3. After that, remove the pieces of ginger, add some honey for sweetness and your ginger tea is ready!
  4. Drink this tea every night before going to bed.

3. Passion Fruit Tea

  • Fresh Mint Leaves
  • Hot boiling water
  • Honey
  • Some lemon slices (optional)

  1. First, you need to boil the water in a pot.
  2. Take the mint leaves and crush them a bit to release the oil. Next, throw the crushed leaves into the boiling water. Steep for about 5 minutes.
  3. After 5 minutes, add some honey for sweetness. You can also add some lemon slices for additional flavor.

6. Herbal Tea (Including Peppermint or Goldenseal)

It is needless to mention the benefits of drinking herbal tea every day. However, for snoring, herbal teas that include peppermint or goldenseal are more effective. Goldenseal is great for reducing congestion in the chest as well as nasal pathways.

It is important to remember that tea that contains caffeine will not at all help you against snoring. On the other hand, this type of tea can lower the quality of your sleep. It is because caffeine helps to keep one awake, that’s why we drink tea/coffee in the morning after waking up.

So, if you are looking for teas to stop snoring, choose the ones that don’t contain any caffeine.

My Favourite Way To Stop Snoring

Though teas are a great natural remedy for stopping snoring, I prefer another way more. It is because prevention of snoring through natural remedies can take a very long time and I am not that of a patient person.

There are many anti-snoring products that are found in the market and as much as I would continue trying natural remedies to help with my snoring, I also use these to make it more effective and reduce how much I snore.
