The answer to “Does honey really work for snoring?” is an absolute yes for a very mild snorer. Honey is a widely used home-remedy for snoring. It is used as an ingredient in many food recipes that are meant to help with snoring. In this article, I’ll share with you how honey works for snoring and some of the recipes that help with snoring and include honey.
How does Honey Prevent Snoring?
Honey is God’s (or Bee’s) gift to mankind. It can help prevent many diseases. Honey is rich in anti-microbial as well as anti-inflammatory properties. It also works as a lubricant. These properties work great against snoring.
One of the common causes of snoring is swelling in the throat. The anti-inflammatory property of honey helps to reduce this swelling. It also helps to a great extent to prevent ulcers as well as lip and mouth sores.
The lubricant property of honey prevents the tissue from vibrating which is what originally causes the sound of snoring.
Singers and musicians have been known to consume honey daily to keep their vocal cord relaxed and fine.
It is very easy to include honey in your daily diet. You can add it with hot water, tea, or other drinks. It is even okay to have a teaspoon full of honey just before hitting the bed. It should work wonders against snoring.

As a result, Olive oil works amazingly against snoring. Here’s what you can do:

2. Ginger Tea With Honey
Ginger is useful in preventing snoring in multiple ways. Firstly, it contains anti-bacterial as well as anti-inflammatory properties which are fundamental in our fight against snoring. The unique thing about ginger is, it increases the production rate of saliva, which works as a lubricant for the throat as well as the nasal airways. Thus, air can pass through the airways freely without facing any obstruction.
For preparing ginger tea with honey, you’ll need the followings:
- Ginger (Obviously). Take an inch long root of ginger. Make sure it is fresh. Peel the ginger thoroughly and slice it thinly.
- Honey (about 2 tablespoons or how much sweetness you prefer)
First, take a pot and boil water. When the water is boiling, add the ginger. Make the ginger simmer in boiling water for about 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes, turn the heat off. Cover the pot and rest it for 5 more minutes.
Now it’s time to remove the ginger from the tea and add honey to it. Do not forget to stir thoroughly after you add the honey.
Drinking this tea every night before bed should bring significant results against snoring.
