Though there is no relation between snoring and chest pain, there is an indirect relation between sleep apnea and chest pain. It can be said that sleep apnea is one of the conditions that trigger some causes of chest pain.
Here I am explaining in details what is sleep apnea and exactly how it is responsible for chest pain:
What Is Sleep Apnea?
Sleep apnea is a condition where one pauses breathing for a few seconds. The ‘apnea’ means to pause or discontinuity. People who are suffering from sleep apnea stop their breathing for a few seconds while they are sleeping. In today’s world, more than 18 million Americans are suffering from Sleep apnea.
Though the breathing stops only for a few seconds, it can happen many times an hour, hundreds of times during a night. Most people that are suffering from sleep apnea don’t know about this condition.
There are basically two types of sleep apnea:
- Obstructive Sleep Apnea
- Central Sleep Apnea
Obstructive sleep apnea is the most common one. It occurs when some parts of the upper air passages get blocked at the back of the throat. Normally this blockage occurs because of relaxed throat muscles.
When sleep apnea occurs, it stops the delivery of oxygen in our body. This can lead to many underlying problems such as-
- Memory loss
- Mood swings
- Different heart diseases
- High blood pressure
- Morning headaches
- Weight gain etc.
These are the symptoms of sleep apnea:
- Problems in remembering anything
- Frequent headaches in the morning
- Dry or sore mouth when waking up from sleeping
- Often urinating throughout the night
- Depression/mood swing
- Unable to concentrate on anything
Proper steps should be taken if you observe one or more of these symptoms in conjunction.
How Sleep Apnea Causes Chest Pain?
Sleep apnea, more accurately obstructive sleep apnea can cause chest pain. Obstructive sleep apnea stops the delivery of oxygen to your body for a few seconds. These short interruptions occur hundreds of times during the night while you are sleeping. This condition can lead to many underlying health issues.
Before I disclose how sleep apnea and chest pain is related, lets first look at the factors that are mostly responsible for chest pain:
- Throat issues
- Bladder problem
- Acid reflux
- Troubles in the heart
One of these conditions ties up sleep apnea and chest pan together: it is the Acid reflux.
Acid reflux is a condition when one suffers a burning pain in the lower chest area. The pain is also known as heartburn. This situation occurs when the acid in the stomach flows back up to the food pipe.
The sharp pain due to acid reflux can be mistaken as chest pain. Thus, sleep apnea can be indirectly responsible for chest pain. Fortunately, it is easy to deal with acid reflux. Just visit your doctor. He’ll prescribe necessary medicines that will solve this issue. Also, bringing a change in the diet can prevent situations like this happening in the future.
There is another way snoring can be responsible for chest pain. Most of us use a CPAP machine to deal with snoring. If you haven’t made the right settings in the CPAP machine, the air that is coming through the mask can get too high-pressured and make you unable to exhale.
Needless to say, such a situation will put a strain on your lungs along with the chest muscles. It can lead to chest pain.
If the wrong setting of the CPAP machine is causing you the chest pain, then it is easily solvable. You just need to adjust the ramp pressure or the ERR settings. If you don’t know what you are doing, I’ll highly recommend consulting with a specialist first.
How To Get Rid Of Sleep Apnea?
There are many ways to get rid of sleep apnea. You can either use a natural home remedy or any of the anti-snoring products. The problem the home-remedies is they take a lot of time to work.
According to me, I think using this mouthpiece is simply the best way to tackle sleep apnea.
This mouthpiece isn’t anything like a CPAP machine. This is simply a MAD type device. You just need to insert it inside your mouth. This will ensure you don’t snore and stop breathing throughout the night.
The mouthpiece can be custom-fitted according to your jaw. So, after a couple of uses, you won’t find it uncomfortable at all.
Like me, more than 80 thousand people have stopped their snoring by using this mouthpiece.
If you can’t deal with snoring anymore and ready to spend a few bucks, then I’ll highly recommend to give this mouthpiece a shot!
Chest pain can be an underlying symptom of many serious health conditions. If you are suffering from chest pain, stop everything else and go visit a doctor IMMEDIATELY. Chest Pain should never be taken lightly.
Think of chest pain as a big red flag that indicates something can be really wrong within your body. So, IMMEDIATELY consult with a specialist if you are suffering from chest pain.
